New phone system
Posted or Updated on 3 Feb 2026
We have now settled with the new telephone system and the initial teething issues have been overcome. We would appreciate patients listening to the message and selecting the appropriate option which helps when our staff become available to answer.
One of the key new features is call queuing. When you phone the practice, you will now be able to join a queue rather than repeatedly redialling. The system will clearly tell you how many callers are ahead of you, so you know your place in the queue. You can choose to remain on the line and wait, or you will be given the option to press a button to stay in the queue and request a call back. If you choose the call-back option, you can put the phone down and the system will automatically call you back when it is your turn. If you hang up without selecting this option, you will lose your place in the queue. Please do not re-dial again unless you have missed your call back. It is an automated system which keeps your place in the queue and alerts you that someone is free by calling your number back. If you do not answer when called back you will lose your place in the queue and will have to phone again later. If you call numerous times and press call back each time, the system will keep automatically calling the number back which wastes valuable time for patients and ourselves. We appreciate your co-operation in this matter, especially during the early stages.
Should you get a busy tone, then please do try again. This means that the queue is currently full and we are very busy, but our amazing team will get to you as quickly as possible.
The upgraded system also allows for better call handling, helping the team manage calls more efficiently during busy periods. This means fewer missed calls and clearer communication between us and you.
We hope these improvements make it easier for you to contact us and reduce frustration at peak times. Thank you for your patience while we continue to improve our services for the community over the coming months, while the new system is bedded in and small changes are made to make sure you are getting the best service from us over the phone.
So far we have had many compliments about the new system and we hope this continues to improve your experiences.
